THE NEW NORMAL

Larry Baty

Updated: Nov 12, 2022

I have a lot of suits in my closet that haven’t been worn in a year due to the Pandemic. There are some I haven’t worn in a couple of years. When the Pandemic is over, many will be out of fashion. I’m reassessing how many clothes I actually need. Some things that were a necessity and way of life BC (Before Covid) are not as important or I have determined I can live without.

However, the one thing I cannot live without is my relationship with Christ. Even as circumstances changed, my relationship with Him grew. That is what God wanted with this Pandemic. It was a call for His Saints to spend more time with Him and a call to those who didn’t know Him before to seek and find Him. He has always been in the midst; either in direct sight to those who are Holy and can see the invisible or hidden from those who walk in darkness and cannot see the light.

While some see the glass as half empty, others see it as half full. The Pandemic has been epic in the pain it has exerted; 2 Million deaths worldwide and counting, loss of jobs and businesses that will never return, social and racial tension, political turmoil, etc. But it has been a blessing in allowing many who wanted to use the time to reassess things and meditate and think about the things of God and what really matters - our relationship with Him and our families. If we looked at the glass as half empty and only thought about the needs of ourselves and the negative impact it may have had on our financial situation or our lack of ability to gather with others or enjoy our luxury vacations, then we missed the reset button and we’re still waiting for the show to begin again and everything to “get back to normal”. Those individuals didn’t get the message. Some shows have been permanently canceled and there won’t be any reruns.

Welcome to the soon to be “New Normal”. Things that were rated as a high priority, BC, will be less of a priority going forward. How you determine to prioritize your life going forward in this New Normal environment will determine your success. Hit the reset button and turn it over to Christ before the New Normal begins in earnest. “He’s able” if you are willing to do His will.

The bible says in Mark 2:22 “And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the wine will burst the skins, and both the wine and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins.”

I pray you have been made anew during the reset and particularly as we have been fasting and praying during this annual period of consecration and that you leave your old ways of doing things behind and enter the heavenly and eternal realm of knowing Christ our Lord and Savior. Leave your old behaviors and practices behind and make Jesus the number one priority. Get excited about the cNew Normal!

Corrie Ten Boon a Dutch Christian writer made this quote:

“Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God.”

Glory to God! He’s Able!
