To Know God

How can someone describe the ocean if they’ve never stood on its shores, felt the salt spray on their face, or heard the roar of crashing waves?
How would they explain the waves that crash against the rocks or the shifting of the sand as the tide tugs at the shoreline?
Are they able to put into words how the sand feels between their toes or describe the majesty of an endless blue horizon?
Until they have taken a dip in the salty, white-frothed ocean, their descriptions would be limited. Words can only take them so far. To truly know the ocean, they must experience it—feel the tug of the tide, sense the weight of the water, and marvel at its vastness.
The same is true of knowing God. To Know God, you must experience him personally take a dip in His Love for us. We can hear about Him, read about His love, and even admire the testimonies of others. But until we step into His presence, surrendering ourselves to experience the depth of His grace, our understanding will be incomplete.
One way to immerse ourselves fully in God’s presence is through fasting. Fasting quiets the noise of the world, humbling our hearts and making room for God to move powerfully in our lives. It is an act of surrender, allowing us to tune into His Spirit and let go of distractions. Like the shifting sands shaped by the waves, fasting allows God to mold us, renewing our spirits and drawing us closer to Him.
To know God, we must be found in Him by becoming a new creature, conforming to his death and fellowship with his suffering. Consider the following scriptures:
A New Creature
2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are new
We must Conformed to His Death
Philippians 3:10 KJV
That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death.
The Fellowship of His Suffering
Romans 6:3-4
Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
As we fast, pray, and seek Him, we experience the depths of His love and the power of His resurrection. Take a step today into the vast ocean of His presence. Let Him surround you, renew you, and make you whole.
Prayer:
Lord, help me to experience You more deeply. Teach me to fast with purpose, to seek You with a humble heart, and to walk in the fullness of new life in Christ. Amen.
