Day 9 – Are You Satisfied?

Writer's picture: Monica SimmonsMonica Simmons

Acts 2:1-4 KJV

And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Pentecost Sunday is celebrated in May but fortunate for us, we don’t have to wait to have to have

our own Pentecost experience. The word ''Pentecost'' is Greek for ''fiftieth.'' The feast day celebrates the descending of the Holy Spirit on Mary and the apostles after the death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus. The historical event occurred ten days after the ascension of Jesus.

God is no respecter of person and there is nothing new under the sun. Just as those gathered experienced the supernatural, the same can happen to, with and for us today. Some people are content with where they are in life and what they have, while others simply want more. Those who want more, follow some type of formula or protocol that usually includes sacrifice in order to achieve their goal.

As a kid, I had a desire to live in a certain kind of house and to travel and see the places I had read and studied. I wanted my unborn children to have everything they needed and many of their wants. In order to make this happen, I followed the “formula" to achieve the American dream,” graduated from college and pursued a career. It wasn’t long before I realized that I still wanted more that something was missing from my life.

Are you satisfied with where you are in your walk with God?

Do you long for more?

The “formula” to obtaining the gift of the Holy Ghost has been given to us.

“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."

Acts 2:38 KJV

Fasting is a sacrifice but so is reading the word of God and being a yielded vessel. While the focus of this fast is the Holy Spirit, let us learn all there is to know about the Holy Spirit.

2 Timothy 2:15 KJV

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly

dividing the word of truth.

I pray that during this time, that God pours out his spirit upon all flesh and that He uses us mightily to do HIS work and that the Holy Spirit is evident in our lives.
