Day 5 - Intentional Worship

Praise and Worship. It’s one of my favorite times during any church service. Worshipping God with the fruit of my lips by singing praise to Him; lifting holy hands and actively summonsing the presence and power of the Holy Spirit connects me to God in an amazing way. Worship turns our hearts towards God and gives Him the reverence and praise He already deserves. As we actively seek God out during worship, He shows up in return. I have witnessed God move in a mighty way during praise and worship. He has given me visions of my life in the midst of me praising Him. As the Apostle Paul instructs us in 1 Timothy 2:8 “I want men everywhere to lift up hands in prayer, without anger or disputing.” When we lift holy hands to Heaven, we present everything we are, everything we have done, and everything we have to God. While we worship Him, in complete surrender, we are set free from all that has us bound…Glory to God!
But corporate worship is not the only way we can worship God. We can also worship God in giving of our resources and time. Whether it is a little or a lot, giving is an act of worship and an expression of love for Jesus, and being generous is more important than the amount given (2 Corinthians 8:1-5). We can also give of ourselves. Have you ever been in a doctor’s office; grocery store; post office etc. and the Lord has a stranger cross your path and strike up a conversation with you that turns into more than a chance meeting? As we go about our daily lives, God is constantly orchestrating these meetings. When we slow down this is an opportunity for us to give of our time and quite possibly lead someone to Christ or simply be a blessing. This too is an act of worship.
We can also worship God in nature. Whether on a neighborhood walk; a hike in the mountains or a walk on the beach, we can worship and praise God in nature. His creation is for us to enjoy and a way for God to show us His good work. As we connect with God in nature we can worship Him and praise Him for all he has created for our enjoyment. During my morning walks in my neighborhood, I am in awe of all the different colors in the trees; the squirrels and the occasional rainbow God allows me to witness…during these times I praise God for who He is and what He has created!
“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.” Psalm 19:1
These are but a few ways that we can worship God. In this busy world we live in, our worship must be intentional. We have to make up our minds to worship the Living God…creator of heaven and earth! I encourage you to worship God in a new way.
“But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” John 4:23-24
