Day 4 - Seeing with Eternal Eyes
Dr. Tony Evans says if all you see is what you see, you do not see all there is to be seen. Do you see with eternal eyes or worldly eyes (i.e., only what is in front of you)?
When we drive our cars and are not in the passenger seat many times the passenger will say, “Did you see that”, but our focus is on driving and getting to our destination so we may miss much that is to be seen as we drive. There are other times when we are miles away in thought and although our eyes are open, we don’t see what is in front of us because our thoughts have taken us somewhere else. Virtual reality and artificial intelligence are here today and improving as I type. We are given headsets to view movies or to be taken to another part of the world and experience the feeling of actually being there, but without the headsets we cannot see all that is to be seen.
Similarly, if we want to experience the fullness and power of the Holy Spirit and all that God has for us, we must put on our eternal headsets to view the world through God’s eyes. There are a few ways to do this, but I believe living a fasted lifestyle where we are always prepared for what God may ask or require of us is the best way to see all there is to be seen. We cannot truly fast without prayer and we cannot truly pray unless we are in God’s word. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much (James 5:16 KJV).

On our journey on this earth, we have been given a comforter, counselor, helper who lives in us that possesses the Spirit of the Living God. The Holy Spirit can do more for us than we can do for ourselves and help us see and experience things we can only imagine. Although the Holy Spirit lives in us, we have to ignite the power through our obedience and desire to see more of God.
In his book 40 days with the Holy Spirit, R.T. Kendall says that power was experienced by the disciples in three areas:
· Through demonstration of supernatural power – that which defied a supernatural explanation.
· They were given inner power to grasp what had been dark or mysterious.
· The power to witness.
Paul says in 1st Corinthians 4:20 – “For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power”. If we want to truly experience all that God has for us we need power.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we ask that you open our eyes to allow us to see what we cannot see. Let what’s done in the dark come to light and let our light shine brightly through the power of the Holy Spirit. As we draw near to you on this fast, fill us with your supernatural power to enable us to see and do more than we would normally be able to. As you give to us Lord, we will be sure to give you all the glory, honor, and praise, for you are worthy. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
